About JITO - Overview
Overview
JITO administers joinery and laminate fabrication apprenticeships, as well as glass and glazing apprenticeships and arranges training and assessment for about 500 apprentices every year. Investing in training for the National Certificates helps workplaces achieve high standards of joinery manufacture through better skilled people.

Training
Gaining skills in joinery is a combination of practical experience and theoretical knowledge. The Joinery ITO has developed a system of training which incorporates both on and off job training. Formal teaching is given at polytechnics, while experience is gained in the factory where on-job instruction is received from experienced tradesmen.

Updating Qualifications
The qualifications set out in this website are reviewed every three years by an Advisory Group of interested industry members who are able to recommend changes and add new skill requirements in response to current and future industry needs.

JITO Charter
The Joinery ITO Charter came into effect on the 1st of January 2004, and will remain effective until 27th December 2008. The Charter will be the guiding document for our annual Business Plans over this period.
