During your term of apprenticeship, you will undertake on and off-job training. Approximately 85% of training takes place in the workplace, while 15% of training is done at Tech. However, nearly all of the assessment is done at Tech. Depending on your qualification, you will attend the following : Craftsperson (8000 hour term) First to fourth year of training - attend one Block course each year Module A - D (3 weeks each) Module E (2 or 3 weeks) Cabinetry or Stairs or Component Machining (5000 hour term) First to second year of training - attend one Block course each year Module A and B (3 weeks each) Last 6 months Module C (1 or 2 weeks) |
Exterior Joinery (6000 hour term) First to third year of training - attend one Block course each year Module A and C (3 weeks each) Last 6 months Module D (3 weeks) Laminate or Aluminium Fabrication (6000 hour terms) First year of training Module A (3 weeks) Second year Module B (1 week) National Diploma in Joinery This qualification can be undertaken when you have completed any of the above National Certificates. The diploma has been designed for people in the industry who wish to move into supervisory or management positions. Units can be completed at Polytechnic or through distance learning. |
