NZS4211 Report
NZS4211 Project Update
NZS: 4211 + Update End November 2009

The project is ticking along nicely & is on schedule of where I want it to be, remembering from the start we have advised this is a 2 year project & testing only started in June & we will be nearly 1/2 way through testing by the end of November.

Level of Industry support
We have now in excess of 160 signed up to scheme.

As advised applications after 30th June 2009 will be incurring a surcharge of 10% per month thereafter.

Testing the Product
Testing has been carried out on awning and casement windows as well as large fixed sash and fixed beaded glazed panel. The test for French (pair) and single doors open out doors + 4 door bifolds were tested in August. The preliminary results have been very encouraging as they all passed.

What Happens Next?
More testing with 3 door bifold booked for testing on the week of 16th November. We are being held up a bit as the booth is tightly booked as Aluminium is also going for recertification to revised NZS: 4211.

We are also doing some work on a proposal to NZJMF which will ensure the project doesn’t fizz out when completed. I will present this proposal at December exec meeting.

We are compiling information on installation of timber Joinery so we can test to E2/AS1. We will also be gathering information on care and maintenance of timber joinery, environmental choice and thermal qualities. If you have any information about any of these issues please share it with us.

Suppliers Involvement
We have now sent out requests for involvement to timber suppliers, as I am now comfortable we can deliver value to timber suppliers . This request was for financial and technical assistance and intended to be a win-win partnership. We have had a few take this offer up & we will compile a list in the new year so we can show reciprocal support.
