The project is ticking along nicely & is on schedule of where I want it to be, remembering from the start we have advised this is a 2 year project & testing only started in June 2009 & we are now approximately 1/2 way through testing..
Level of Industry support
We have now in excess of 170 signed up to scheme.
Master Joiners Executive has agreed to forgo surcharge due to the positive uptake and support of industry to date. This gesture is to encourage all Joiners to take up the opportunity to be involved with this vital venture to the future
Testing the Product
Testing has been carried out on awning and casement windows as well as large fixed sash and fixed beaded glazed panel. The test for French (pair) and single doors open out doors + 3 & 4 door bifolds with Bifold windows are being tested mid March. The preliminary results have been very encouraging as they all passed.
What Happens Next?
More testing, we are being held up a bit as the booth is tightly booked as Aluminium is also going for re-certification to revised NZS: 4211.
We are also doing some work on a buisiness Plan to NZJMF which will ensure the project keeps moving forward when completed. This proposal will be discussed further at the June Executive meeting.
We are compiling information on installation of timber Joinery so we can test to E2/AS1. We will also be gathering information on care and maintenance of timber joinery, environmental choice and thermal qualities. If you have any information about any of these issues please share it with us.
