Apprentices - Pre-employment courses
PRE-EMPLOYMENT COURSES
Several Training Providers offer an 18 or 26 week pre-trade joinery course. You will have the chance to complete the National Certificate in Joinery Introduction. Some joiners prefer to take on an apprentice who have completed a pre-trade course, because it shows that the young person is committed to the trade, understands the safety in factory requirements, and already has some machinery skills.
Any unit standards gained at a pre-trade course count towards your qualification, and the hours you spent at the course will also be taken into account.
