Employers - Taking on an apprentice
TAKING ON AN APPRENTICE
Many joiners still offer after school work for young people so that they can get an insight into what joinery is all about. Many apprenticeships are started this way, by employers taking on a keen young man or woman straight from school.
Some young people decide to complete a joinery pre-trade course before looking for work with a joiner.
The advantage of someone who has completed such a course is that they show commitment to the trade, have an understanding of safety in the workplace, and have usually gained the National Certificate in Joinery Introduction.
